Tim, how is that app endomondo ? Are you using the free one ?

    August 19

    • Tim

Yes Rita, I'm using the free one and paid for an enhancement. I really like the app. I use it on my bike workouts here in Philly & on hikes.

      1 · August 19

  • Charlotte K

Tim, nice pics! I was too busy watching my footing to fully appreciate the scenery. Can you re-post the links to the Endomondo stats in the comments....instead of as photo comments?

George, outstanding hike! Thanks for letting me tag along. Just got back to Philly guys. I'll have pics and Endomondo stats hopefully tomorrow.

I tasted HVH Epic! Thick bushwhack in Aug is not recommended!!! Nettles, raspberry thorns, dead tree branches, pine needle branches will attack you especially on your face!
You fight with all this and your footing is not sure because you can not see your footing with the all overgrown bushes! And steep climb, descend was challenging. Andrew you hear my inner voice :-) ¥£€%}^+*{|.£!
Who's idea was it to do in August? George who? George, Thank you for let me be part of Pre-EPIC! It was wild day and night!
Thank you Charlotte to offered me your hiking pole during my steep ascend, Tim who carried most heavy water, Andrew who is always see the positive side, wild George, I thank you all, we survived George's wild hike together! Hooray to you all!

Another epic hike planned by George! This hike's lesson: don't invest too much hope in a herd path being a herd path...it appears that cartographers like to mess with people for some reason

Oh my God, what a grueling day. Thank you, George, for not leaving me behind and for bringing me THAT much closer to finishing my 35's. I only have two left!

      August 12

    • cynthia

Kim - I am very sorry about this, but I will not be able to make it to this hike - some personal issues came up. Sorry again, Cynthia

      August 13

  • cynthia

Hi George - Will Balsam Lake be covered? I see a question mark next to it... my friend and I need both Graham and Balsam Lake - it would be our 2nd time round for Fir, Big Indian & Doubletop

    August 11

  • rita c

What is the approximate milage and elevation gain on this George ?

    August 11

  • kim

Paola are you driving? If so can I get lift?

    August 10

  • cynthia

Is there anyway I can get a lift from NYC? It would be too early to catch the Trailways bus. I will happily chip in for gas, tolls, coffee, etc. etc.

Providing some research, found the following:

    Any Season (Supported)
    2 days 15 hours 24 minutes
    Ted "Cave Dog" Kaiser

    Winter (Self Supported)
    6 days 6 hours 5 minutes
    Al Bernier "Albee"

    Any Season Solo (Self Supported)
    6 days
    Eric Schlimmer

    Any Season Team (Self Supported)
    4 days 14 hours
    Jim Senecal and Joe Hevesi

    2 · July 30

    • Kenneth P.

the 6-day solo and 4-day team self-supported records look like they could be improved on - as long as you know the bushwhack trails

      July 30

    • Jesse

I wrote an itinerary to do winter 35 in 3 days, 8 hours. Basically four 32 mile days. Lookin' at you, Yuna!

      1 · July 30

  • Kenneth P.

I can't make August 17 as I'm already committed. But if you all are serious about taking on the entire route, I'd give it a shot. But I don't know the bushwhacks. I'd need help there. When are you thinking the complete event would take place?

    July 29

    • Kenneth P.

How many people are going to try to do the whole thing? And will they stick together?

      July 30

    • Kenneth P.

And will there be a support crew?

      July 30

  • Kenneth P.

what is the total mileage and gain?

    July 29

    • George G.

Depends on the route.... continuous hike? shuttling oneself between trailheads?

      July 29

  • kim

    George, I need Fir!!!

    July 29

    • George

It will be the first one we do. Should make your Catskill highlight real!

      1 · July 29

  • Kenneth P.

Who is Cave Dog? Is there a website where his/her record is documented?

    July 29

    • Dorothy

Cave Dog also holds the record for ADK 46ers and Colorado 14ers and maybe some other stuff

      July 29

    • Matt N

This specific event is only a training event to get familiar with the larger bushwhack portions and the event host (George) could probably give you more specifics on that.

The actual length of Cave Dog's Route was 133 miles and 37k elevation gain!
