The Rosendale Theatre in Rosendale, New York, presents a special benefit performance of Doug Motel’s award winning, solo-play, Shiva Arms. Performance is Wednesday, January 29 at 7:00 pm.

Rosendale, NY – Shiva Arms, the award-winning one-person play by Doug Motel returns to the Rosendale Theatre for one night only. Actor/Writer and Rosendale resident, Doug Motel takes audience members on a journey into the lives of 11 dysfunctional, yet compelling tenants living in a run-down apartment building in Hollywood CA.

Shiva Arms has been seen all over the US and was recently produced in Rome, Italy. The Italian Insider Newspaper said “Uproarious and poignant comedy gets big laughs”. Motel debuted the show in LA where it won The Los Angeles Weekly Award for Best Solo Performance and the Theater LA Ovation award for Best Writing of a World Premiere Play. Most recently, Shiva Arms was featured in The 2013 United Solo Theatre Festival on Manhattan’s Theater Row, the largest one-person show festival in the world.

Motel is offering the performance as a fundraiser for the Nusbaum Family who lost their home and possessions in a house fire on Wednesday Evening, December 18th. They are safe and with friends, and now face the daunting task of rebuilding their home.

Doug Motel’s unique, insightful style of comedy and storytelling has produced numerous critically acclaimed and award-winning solo plays including, Mick in America, Mind Salad (LA Weekly award nomination for writing and performing) and the play StarDUST (Adventures in Consciousness), which was presented at the Rosendale Theatre in 2010. Doug’s Films and TV credits include: THE WAITING GAME, (winner San Diego International Film Festival: Audience Award, Best Independent Feature) as the evil Russian villain on THE TICK (FOX). NATIONAL
