March iOS Developers Support Group Meeting

This months meetings will have 3 parts.

  • Review of online resources for developers.  This will cover resources for all skill levels, rather you a newbie just learning iOS development or an experienced developer trying to learn 2D/3D gaming with OpenGL ES or 3rd Party game engines.
  • Presentation on popular and useful libraries that can be downloaded and added to your project to save significant development time.  Demonstrations of one of these libraries called "Magical Record" will be presented to show an easier way to implement a database using Core Data.
  • Time for each member to share what they are doing and to ask questions of the group

Refreshments will be provided,  hope you can all make it.

Good observation Chris. We have not met in 14 months since I lost my meeting place. I started this group so that independent developers like myself who are fairly new to app development could learn from each other's experiences. But cost about $150 per year to keep going so am trying to decide if I should find a new location or just drop the idea. Other similar groups I've been to before seem to be dominated by professional programmers & not too good for newcomers & those just starting out.

Curses! I, too, am at the point where I'd like to work through a book and projects with a cohort and bounce questions off each other. If we can get a group of ten together and committed to a two or three-month "boot-camp" kind of thing, I'd be happy to throw in my share of actual meeting costs. Between the ten of us, that should bring the price down to a point where it's doable. I know of one or two places that have "break-out rooms" available; I could look into these if it would help us map something out.

This group seems dead. Is this the case, or is it "just" hibernating?
