Yay!  Chris - I saw your and Lynn's presentation, and it seems like you got Eric Reiss on board too!

Lynn, I heard from Jill about your slam and it sounds awesome. Let's talk offline.

Well, Chris beat me to the punch in plugging the IA Slam, which we're bringing back to the IA Summit this year.  If you've never done a Slam, you should check it out.  We present the audience with an unsolvable problem, divide you arbitrarily into teams, and you and your team have a ridiculously short time to design the solution and present it back to us.  The following day we award medals to the winning team (just like the Olympics!) in a special ceremony at lunch.  It sounds horrifying, but the bonds that have formed across team members have endured for years.  And everyone seems to have a really great time.  And while it seems at first blush to tap into skills and abilities that you don't really use, believe me it's nice to have the wireframes for the self-updating UI of the Time Machine in your portfolio.

So in answer to "who's going to the IA summit?" my hand is waving in the air.  And in answer to "will you bring your talk to Santa Barbara" the answer is, a) it's not a talk, and b) let's talk.

And if you've never been to the IA Summit, I can't recommend it highly enough.  It's a small conference, about[masked] people, and the topics are very current and relevant to the practice of IA and UXD; the opportunities for networking and actually meeting the leaders in our profession over the course of 3-4 days are wonderful.  And New Orleans is a place that demands to be experienced.

I'm going to.

And Chris, I wonder if you and Lynn would be interested in giving Santa Barbara UX community a similar talk. We have an active group up here: http://www.meetup.com/sb-ux-meetup

I'm looking for speakers for the rest of the year and we usually meet the 3rd Thursday every other month (more frequent in 2011 but will try to keep it bi-monthly this year.)

Thanks,
Kejun

I'll be there -- in fact, I'm presenting with our very own Lynn Boyden:
