Re: [ia-55] Usertesting.com

I've submitted 3 projects through usertesting.com so far (1 desktop, 2 mobile). I've gotten some excellent feedback that we've put use. I typically start by testing 1 user just to make sure I set the test up correctly and then expand to a total of 5.

Happy testing!

Edric,
I watched a presentation by Darrell from UserTesting.com at the UX Speakeasy Conference last Saturday, and it looked pretty good!
A few things that interested me:
  • You can list qualifications that you want your testers to meet, as well as tasks you want them to complete
  • You can ask follow-up questions to participants
  • UserTesting.com provides a quick turnaround time (generally a few hours)
Also, I saw this deal for 5 user tests for $99 on Appsumo: http://www.appsumo.com/usertesting-5-tests-for-99/?rf=srch

What You Get

·         5 User Tests

·         A downloadable video of a user speaking their thoughts as they browse your site content

·         A written summary where that same user tells you what they liked, disliked, and what would have caused them to delete your mobile app or leave your website

Hope this helps!

Hey Edric,

I have used them several times and had great experiences with them. Only thing I would say is if your core demographic is something technical or specific, you will not get accurate feedback, as most people on there are mostly mid/lower income/education types. So that website which sells tropical plant seeds to botanist researchers  is probably not a good fit. If you're testing a product page on target.com, go for it!

Hey Everyone,

Has anyone had experience with remote usability testing from usertesting.com? I'm thinking about using them for early design feedback on a prototype I'm working on for my company and just wanted to get an idea of how the UX community feels about the service, good or bad. Thank you guys!

Best,
Edric
