Stationary for sketching

From: John A.

I like to sketch on grid paper that has very light grid lines. I've tried sketching in Moleskine notebooks, but I've found that the grid lines are too dark and the price is too high. I've currently settled on a very generically titled "Design Book" from Daiso which has a very light grid on A4 paper. 32 pages, soft (paper) cover, $1.50 each. Paper quality is not amazing, but that's okay for sketches that are meant to be relatively disposable. Anyone found anything better?

Also, I'm looking for recommendation on pens. The company ball point ones just aren't cutting it anymore.
