Re: [ia-55] Drag & Drop Interface Builders

I don't disagree with that, but I think it's only a problem if you're building final designs rather than prototypes. I'm interested in these tools as a way of creating something that's potentially reusable and that represents the actual experience of using a website more authentically than Omnigraffle or Balsamiq or other wireframing tools. With non-HTML-based tools it's too easy for inexperienced designers to design something that's completely implausible in the browser.

Incidentally, the Divshot team is based here in LA. Santa Monica, I think. Don't know about Jetstrap.

My two cents: The trouble I find with these tools is it's reliance on Bootstrap. For all of it's merits, the Bootstrap look and feel is becoming a ubiquitous presence online. It seems to have become the Helvetica of responsive layouts, a victim of it's own success.

Here's another layout editor that you may want to look into... I don't have very much personal experience with it yet, but was stumbled across it the other day and have been wanting to try it out: http://www.layoutit.com/

I'd be interested in opinions too. My main question is, if you know bootstrap, does this add anything substantive?

Anyone have any experience with these tools or something similar? Interested in exploring the idea of having one prototype that eventually can become a finished product for the marketplace.

This would be different than prototyping tools like Axure, which can be used to create beautiful prototypes, but are ultimately recreated by development as finished products.

Thoughts, successes, horror stories, etc. please share...

Thanks!
