USER EXPERIENCE DESIGNER, DIGITAL PRODUCT DESIGN

At DIRECTV as a User Experience Designer, your focus is in creating mind-blowing experiences that people love and in having a knack for communication, collaboration and iteration in order to make those experiences even better. You’re a master of creating the right combination of well-thought out design, extensive research and intuition that comes from your gut. You’re in love with the history of design and attuned to the psychology of how users think and act. You're multi-faceted and have dabbled elsewhere... perhaps with visual design, art or code – and can speak those languages for the sake of better collaboration. You “get” multi-screen. "Device agnostic" is your creed and prototyping is your mantra. You’re nimble and savvy. You're not afraid to let your geek-flag fly. You have an unavoidable obsession with trends across entertainment, science fiction, video games, pop-culture, fashion, art, design and technology.  You see as much inspiration in user-driven data and feedback as you get from a stroll through the Guggenheim or LACMA.

This job isn’t just about designing experiences that produce "clicks" and sales success. This job is about building a meaningful, long-lasting relationship between our brand, millions of people, and the entertainment we all love.  We help our customers get the most possible enjoyment out of the service we provide.  We make the DIRECTV experience better than it is with any other provider, so that our customers fall in love with our products and services over and over again, on every screen they desire.

Responsibilities

·         Partner with the UI team to research, concept and execute on all digital platforms

·         Help to define, execute and iterate on design patterns, interactions and features for the DIRECTV brand and product initiatives across all screens

·         Execute at all levels of the design process from lo-fi prototype to launched product

·         Partner with content, development and product teams to create new products and features support and enhance cross-platform experiences and strategies

·         Know when to both inspire and collaborate with your team to make career-defining work

Requirements

·         2+ years of experience in user experience design for globally renowned brands. A balance of creative agency and in-house experience helps, as does a cross-functional background (we collaborate A LOT)

·         Portfolio of original and breakthrough work with demonstrated documentation of those experiences

·         Intimate knowledge of the latest developments in digital technology, responsive design, HTML5, both native and web app design and modern production best practices

·         An uncanny ability to communicate and present complex products, services and features, in a simple, intuitive and engaging manner

·         Bachelors in Fine Arts or Graphic Design, Interactive Design or HCI. Master’s a plus

Does This Sound Like You?

Partnering closely with development, research, product strategy and the content design teams you are the voice of our products and services and our users – on all screens. You are interested in features and user needs and want to leap across all digital platforms with cat-like grace—PC, mobile, consoles, and set top box. You have a hungry mind. You love technology. You are a great team player and rank your communication skills as equally important as your design abilities (Dan Brown and Tufte are listed among your heroes). And in regards to execution, you are a master ninja (or perhaps you have a secret desire to be Aeon Flux), striking at carefully timed deadlines and pivoting with precision and uber-style, never missing a beat.

Blind us with your stunning portfolio and accomplishments. Show us what you're made of.

We are poised to jump-shift the digital entertainment game to the next level.

We don’t just watch TV, we DIRECTV and have a fine time doing it.
