Myths & Realities: How to get found on the Web

“If people can’t find your site, it doesn’t matter how cool it is.” – Phil Buckley

With more than half a billion websites on the Internet and 43 percent of the top million in the United States -- how can you be found?  Not just by friends and acquaintances, but by potential clients who want the exact services you can provide.

Join us and let Phil Buckley tell you how to maximize your ability to get found on the Web. And don’t come fearing a conversation that only IT experts can understand.  Even though Phil can easily discuss marketing in binary code, he will make the über-geek jabber comprehensible to even the non-techies among us.  RSVP at

So, what will you learn?

- The myths and realities of Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

- Social Media 101

- Why content marketing is now the "it" thing

- Why everything you've learned about writing for SEO is probably wrong

- And more.

Phil is the Director of SEO at Virante, Inc, one of the nation’s leading SEO and online marketing firms.  His work includes SEO audits, on-page optimization, link building, content strategy, multi-platform optimization, and – as he also notes – continuing to hunt the Google search algorithm.

Phil describes himself as a social media evangelist, recovering web developer and ardent Red Sox fan.  Since 2011, he has organized our local "SEO - What you need to know" Meetup.  With nearly 1,500 members (1,465 to be exact), it is the largest SEO Meetup in the U.S.

In 2010 Phil founded the Raleigh Chapter of New Media Leaders, an organization of Triangle leaders in marketing, advertising, PR and technology who meet to share their cutting edge ideas.

Our thanks to Phil Buckley for his terrific presentation. He taught us “How to get found on the Web” in a way we will never forget. Phil made SEO easy to understand and gave us practical tips and tools. He answered all of our questions and as an added bonus, gave us a handout of action steps to remember. Holy Cow Batman! This is a not to be missed meeting for anyone who has a website and doesn't eat & drink SEO all day. Can't wait to hear Phil tell me what I don't know and give me actionable ideas to implant immediately. Hope to see many friends there!
