How To Write Mouth-Watering Copy About Food

Meet News and Observer food writer/restaurant critic Greg Cox, who will share his tips on "How To Write Mouth-watering Copy About Food."

You've probably read Greg's features or checked out "Quick Bites" for the latest news on restaurants in the Triangle.

In addition, Greg writes the blog "Mouthful," judges food competitions and hosts "Dining Out With Greg Cox," a weekly radio program heard Saturdays at 11 a.m. on 850 WPTF-AM and WPTF.com.

Come to learn the secrets of describing food so that others will pay attention -- whether they're reading it in print, reading online, listening to the radio or talking casually with friends. Greg has opted for an interactive discussion so he can answer all of your questions.

This was an evening of absolute fun! Thanks to News and Observer (N&O) food writer/restaurant critic Greg Cox for giving us a fascinating, inspiring, behind-the-scenes look at the challenge and experience of writing about food. For the last 17 years, Greg has written about food for the N&O. Today he also hosts "Dining with Greg Cox," a call-in, talk show heard on WPTF-AM each Saturday at 11 a.m. If you’ve read his dining reviews, then you know that Greg’s writing is distinguished by describing not only a restaurant’s cuisine, but by capturing the mood and personality of a restaurant to give readers a sense of being there. During his talk, he explained how he accomplishes this and much more. You can check out Greg’s reviews in N&O features and the blog Mouthful, and call in to get your questions answered on WPTF.

It was nice to meet Greg and hear about his work and learn more about his favorite restaurants in the area. A few on his list I am hoping to get to soon: Vin Rogue, Rue Cler, Magnolia Grill, Latern, and Coquette Brasserie. I wish more of the folks who had registered had shown up.

This great Meetup (MEAT-up?!!) left me hungry for more! Terrific explanation of how much education, research & verification it takes to be a truly professional reviewer.
