Dev Debug 4: Production

This time at Dev Debug, we're looking at the larger topic of Game Production. This covers a pretty broad range of topics, including pipelines, agile methods, task estimation, time management, pre/post-production/production, budgeting and project management (if you're unsure about a topic, just ask - there's a decent chance that it's ok).

I'm a developer needing help with game production!

Great! If you need some help in this area, message me (Paul) with some basic details. First 6 devs will get the 'hotseat' slots, and you'll each get 10-15 minutes of the group's time to brainstorm the best ways to solve your problem.

Others: If you've got some expertise in this area, please let me know whether you can make this event. I'm keen to get as much knowledge in the room as possible.

If you don't have a game but want to come to soak up said knowledge, feel free to do so!

I'm a developer with a completely unrelated problem, but it's rather urgent!

Something I'm wanting to start experimenting with is allowing 1 or 2 of the hotseat slots to be taken by developers who have a problem they need more immediate help with. If you fall in this category, please let me know!

The format:

At the start, we introduce everyone, and highlight anyone who has particular expertise in the area to be discussed.

There are 6 devs in the 'hot seat', each of whom gets 10-15 minutes of the group's time. They quickly outline a problem they have, after which the group uses their combined expertise to solve that problem. The devs ideally go home with specific steps to solve their problem, and everyone else goes home with extra-juicy knowledge*.

That's it. Afterwards, we go get a few drinks at the Clare.
