All About Mushrooms: An Evening with the Illinois Mycological Association brought to you by "Know Your Food Know Your Farmer, NFP"
Science Writer Rebecca Fyffe and Mycologist Patrick Leacock will collaborate to deliver a lively presentation on some amazing facts about mushrooms. Fyffe will interview Leacock and ask him to weigh in on some truly superlative traits about fungi... from largest to fastest to deadliest, Fyffe will ask Leacock how fungi achieve these amazing feats! Mushroom growing kits form Aloha Medicinals will be available for order and we will discuss the nutritional and medicinal benefits of growing your own mushrooms at home. The Illinois Mycological Association will join KYF-Chicago (Know Your Food, Know Your Farmer) at the Arlington Heights Library to educate the public on mushroom hunting, growing mushrooms, mushroom nutrition, mushrooms in medicine and the environment. Join us, and over 50 already-registered guests, for a lecture on mushrooms as well as tables full of mushroom art and gifts, t-shirts, bags, books and more. Please come and meet the dedicated volunteers of the Illinois Mycological Association and learn why we're passionate about mushrooms. Would you like to volunteer or participate in this event? Please direct any questions to KYF Chicago's Mary Green or Rebecca Fyffe [masked][masked] iPhone. KYF Chicago (Know Your Food, Know Your Farmer) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating food consumers and connecting them with local food sources. They focus on the West and Northwest Suburbs of Chicago. Today’s food consumers are overwhelmed with information and options; KYF Chicago provides resources so people can make better food choices. KYF Chicago offers classes, hosts movie screenings, and coordinates events and farm tours. They connect food consumers to local food sources by maintaining a comprehensive database and hosting events where people meet local farmers.
