Awesome! So inspirational. We have very talented photographers in NZ. The judging is fascinating but seeing the images up close in the exhibition later after hearing the judges comments makes it even better.

This was a fantastic event. Both Kirsty and I learned a huge amount from watching and listening to the judges critiquing each print and then scoring the print. Prints scoring 70 and over were rated in one of 3 categories of excellence: Bronze, Silver & Gold. I am happy to say that Mike Hollman who is a great supporter of Image Central Meetup Group scored a total of 10 awards made up of 2 Gold, 2 Silver Distinction, 2 Silver and 4 Bronze awards. This has earn him 2 titles: New Zealand Travel Photographer of the Year AND New Zealand Commercial Photographer of the year 2014 by the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography (NZIPP)

Another one of our supporters, Harry Janssen also made a dent in the awards with 1 Gold, 2 Silvers with Distinction, 2 Silvers & 5 Bronzes. I am planning to get Mike, Harry and a number of other award winners to do a show and tell in the next 3 months including a photo critique session with Image Central members submitting images (anonymously).

FYI - I entered 3 images in 3 categories of which 2 were awarded Bronze and 1 Silver - I am very happy with that result. I'm entering 10 next year!!!!

Kirsty & I will be staying in Rotorua on Thursday and Friday night next week and staying most of the day on Saturday. We will be doing a bit of shooting in the area and watching the judging. So come and join us - see some fantastic photography being judged and get inspired.

I went to the judging process last year to see the quality of the work which was phenomenal and inspiring. As you will see from the above judging categories there is something to interest most tastes. I believe the winning printed images will be on display (as per last year) - so a great opportunity to see images up close and personal.

When in the Judging Room there is spectator seating with live feed monitors of each image being judged by about 4 judges on rotation. There is entertaining discussion, argument and challenges between the judges to ensure images are judged and marked fairly.
