Let's Organise Our Own Art Happening

This group has been in hiatus because it has been too much effort for me (Squiggle) to scout for community art events so it occurred to me:

Precisely what kind of event that would be will depend on our skills and ideas and on whether there is chemistry to inspire us. There is internet at the cafe and I will bring my laptop so please either put something online or bring a CD/DVD or photos or text of your past or proposed work. Even if nothing solid comes out of this it should be fun.

To be clear: this meetup is not an "art happening" but a meeting of those interested in creating such an event in the near future.

Those who would like to catch public transport to the venue...

BUSES 431 & 433 depart every 5 minutes from Railway Square Stand D. Get off (after a 6 minute ride) at Cowper St (1st stop on Glebe Pt Rd).

People catching a TRAIN from South or West of Glebe may like to consider getting off at Newtown or St Peters then catching any bus down King St, getting off at Victoria Park (ie just before it turns into Parramatta Rd).

PS The end time of 11pm is just the default the website offered and so I let it stand. Take it with a grain of salt. I agree with subpixel that 4 hours is too long for organisational talk. Good point.

Let's see how many RSVP's we get anyhow before planning too precisely.

Suggestion: have meeting last only an hour or so, 2 hours max, over coffee/whatever, then change venue for some tucker and general chit-chat.

There is tucker at this venue. I can see how a change in venue would psychologically assist in delineating the organisational from the social (if that's what we decide to do). Problem is that 7pm is dinner time anyhow and eating suits informality. We could move the formalities to another venue over drinks but this venue is priceless for its acoustics - ie we can hear each other easily. Are you or someone able to suggest a nearby bar that is quiet?
