This meetup group strives for quality not quantity and so inactive memberships are cancelled (after a polite warning). For instance, on 23rd May 2010, there were 108 members 33% of which visited this page in the previous week (50% would be the ideal number after eventually trimming membership even further).  It is not a popularity contest like FaceBook which disrespect's Dunbar's number.
