Aamir's Talaash Inspired by a Novel?

Plagarism...err...adaptation in Bollwood is not new. Aren't we all used to our filmmakers borrowing content of their movies from some foreign source and subsequently presenting an artistic adaptation of the same with the Bollywood tadka? But, Aamir for one is very particular about the plot of his movies being closely safeguarded. And, if it is a thriller, well, in no circumstances can the plot be given away!

But, this is not the first time that Aamir is being accused of plagiarizing content. He had tried defending his 'Ghajni' from such accusations until it became evident to all that the movie was indeed 'inspired' from the Hollywood movie 'Momento'. Something similar happened post the release of 'Three Idiots' too.

And now that the Indian junta is all eagerly awaiting the thriller 'Talaash', even this movie is being pointed fingers at for being the Hindi adaptation of an American novel 'An Act of Providence' by Joseph Payne Brennan and Donald M. Grant that hit bookstalls in the year 1979. No matter how fervently the director or the actors refute the allegations, the similarities in the movie are too much of a coincidence.

According to experts, "One can't help but notice certain similarities both the respective protagonists, Inspector Shekhawat and Lucius Leffing are investigating a crime incident that takes place in and around a water body and both the protagonists are undergoing a personal crisis at the time of investigating their cases."

Aamir Khan has always succeeded in fortifying the cipher of his films pre-release and ensures his entire cast and crew pursues it. But as they say, as more anticipation is created, more curious minds will dive into all the possibilities that might have inspired the idea behind a film. Time will only tell how true the controversies are but one thing is for sure - that all these rumors are increasing the excitement about the film.
