MEET and GREET

  • November 15, 2012 · 7:00 PM

Come out and meet with like-minded filmmakers, writers and talent in the local indie film scene.

Several of the members are looking for crew, writers, actors, etc.... for upcoming projects.  No experience necessary.

Also, those with equipment are strongly encouraged to participate, We Need You!

you should be prepared to buy a drink or food so that we keep the venue happy!

Looking forward to meeting you!

The meeting went very well. We even had 2 new members show up that were very experienced and can contribute a lot to the group. Our plan is to present a project at the next meeting that we are going to film asap and assign positions to those interested in participating.

Brian, I can't stay long but I'm still going to try and attend this meetup tomorrow just so we can talk a bit about the group if possible.

Needed someone else to take the reins for a while, but am still planning on being actively involved. My wife passed away on Sept. 15th, which is why I've been out of the picture for a bit.

I can volunteer and book a venue for our next meeting. Or we can meet at Barnes and Noble at Rt 1 which has many meeting areas. On a Weekday night it should be quiet.

Which Barnes and Noble? Menlo Park or North Brunswick? Also what other venues were you thinking?

If B&N then North Brunswick because it has easy access to turnpike and other highways. If venues i can arrange a hall with board and chairs in Library in North brunswick/new brunswick/Plainsboro. Either way I agree with being serious and get things rolling as efficient as possible

    ***Continued...***

Now I'm not against this meetup happening or anything, but I just want to ask if we can step away from using Hooters as a meetup location in the future.

I was just thinking the same. Last time, I almost couldn't hear a single thing said over the noise.

Years ago, a friend of mine was at a party enjoying a beer and speaking with others there. At one point a serious topic was brought up and my friend was posed with a question. Before answering, my friend said, "Hold on, I have to place my bear down," then proceeded to answer the question. When finished answering, another friend asked, "Why did you have to place your beer down to answer that question?" His response was, "I was asked a serious question and it deserved a serious answer... how could you take me seriously though with a beer in my hand."

I kind of look at Hooters as that same beer. Hooters is a fun place to go for alot of people, and making films. However, I find that a little bit of seriousness is also needed in filmmaking. I've been to a Hooters' meetups with this group in the past, and found it noisy, distracting, and hard to speak with others there. I've even spoke recently with past members displeased with the meetup location.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
