I have a cheapie cell phone without easy texting. Still paying for phones for my two boys. A group that had center seats at the back overheard me talking to an usher. They offered to let me sit in front of them. So, I got a primo spot. I cannot go to the opera as I am attending a family weekend at my son's college in Camarillo. I wish we could have sat together! Hi Stefanie,
I watched "Ballerina" the other night and I loved it! Three observations: 1) they still test the children without their tops on at 10 years old! This was in the other film I have about training the Kirov dancers. Kind of creepy!
2) I loved the scene where Ulyana is rehearsing "Swan Lake" by herself. GORGEOUS port de bras work. It is the signature trait of the Kirov ballerinas.
3) My dream is to see the Kirov perform live in St. Petersburg! Thank you! Jonna

Hi Stefanie! Loved meeting you on Thursday! Was the documentary you mentioned called "Ballerinas" instead of "Ballet"? I looked through 324 ballet videos on Amazon and did not see a "Ballet" DVD. I heard good things about "Ballerina" when it was released last year, so I ordered it from Amazon. The older documentary I mentioned is called "Children of Theater Street". Let's stay in touch! Jonna
