Our member Charlie has asked that I send out the following crew call. Have a look, and if you can help him out, drop him a line. DO NOT reply to this email. Contact Charlie directly at: [address removed]
I am filming a TV pilot this weekend ( May 23, 24) to enter in the New York Television Festival. I am short a camera person. If you know anyone who can handle a canon XL2, I could use their lights too.
I am paying real money. Also I will be auditioning actor and actress' again I am paying. If you can email to the group. Filming will be on Long Island in Bellmore. You can go to NY Area TV Production meet up, click on file and read the script. I AM UNDER THE GUN HERE SO IF YOU know ANY ACTORS, TELL THEM TO READ THE SCRIPT AND IF THEY DON'T FIT THE PART DON'T TRY OUT FOR IT.
THIS IS WHAT I SENT OUT TO MY MEET UP GROUP THE NY AREA TV PRODUCTION
I am putting together the crew for my TV pilot entry to the NYTVF. I have one camera man set could use another. Could use a boom operator. (you hold a pole with a mic...very important job, you don't do it right and no sound.) I will look at any actors from our meet up group first. Script coordinators, associate producers, and people to just help. Rolling Credits will be given to those who produce some sweat. Filming will take place on Long Island in Bellmore. There are several dogs and a ferret in the script so be aware...liking animals will help tremendously. I had a real monkey hired but we now have a conflict time wise so we will work around it. The script is in files, so take a look and see if you would like a part. Some re numeration is involved along with great food and a incredible learning experience. Please email if you want to be involved. We will be working with Three Canon Xl2's. More details will be available at the end of the week.
A Painter needs only a paintbrush and a canvas; a musician needs only two turntables and a microphone! Yet to be a filmmaker it seems thousands of dollars are needed to make something that nobody is going to see anyway or to be an actor you must wait for someone else to give you exposure. If you're one of those people waiting around for financing to come through so you can make or star in Citizen Kane II that's cool, I'm not.
This organization is for people who have stories to tell and opinions to express. Lots of people sit around and talk of all the great things they are going to do, that's not you. You want to get out there and make interesting films/videos with few resources beyond your brain and drive.
So if you like writing, shooting video, acting, organizing shoots, recording sound, editing sound or video, lighting, costume, set design, location, make-up, animation or whatever, just come out and get involved, it will be fun and rewarding.
This is not about being cool, it doesn't matter if you want to be involved in controversial stuff or kids stuff, bring whatever you want to the table. Looking forward to hearing your ideas.
