MCC International Film Series - "Quartet"

Manchester Community College's International Film Series for Fall 2013 contains films from Australia, Spain, USA, and UK.  There will be an optional brief discussion, along with a potluck dessert, after each film.

Quartet (United Kingdom) – Cecily, Reggie, and Wilfred are in a home for retired musicians. Every year, on October 10, there is a concert to celebrate Verdi's birthday and they take part. Jean, who used to be married to Reggie and the fourth member of the quartet, arrives at the home and disrupts their equilibrium. She still acts like a diva, but she refuses to sing. Still, the show must go on... and it does. Directed by Dustin Hoffman, Maggie Smith stars. 98 mins. English/Polish. Rated PG-13.

Time: 7:00 pm (we meet in the lobby about 10-15 minutes ahead so we can discuss where to sit - I prefer halfway in the front section)
Location:  Manchester Community College, SBM Charitable Foundation Auditorium
Directions and Parking:
Admission: FREE and open to the public

Although the movie was predictable (as one person said during the discussion) and bittersweet (as another said) it was beautifully acted and shot. Definitely deserves a broader showing and re-viewing. Recommend!!
