Good observations       my expectations vs reality for this film did not match up.  I liked the 3d

Films are, like most art forms, not so easily sectioned off into good and bad, this or that. Gravity is visual/ aural story telling. Its strength is in putting you in the moment. I thought it wss an ok film that did exactly what it was suppose to: take you on a joyride that was not as dumbed down as recent fare. Outside of a few moments of shmaltz and wonky science it does just that.

Hello Jeff and others—I am a movie buff as well of all types of film, mostly indies and foreign films but some big films like Gravity.

I respectfully disagree with Jeff about Gravity. Visually magnificent yes but other than that, this film was very disappointing and boring. The acting was run of the mill, the script mediocre and I could have easily walked out after an hour. I did not appreciate the depth that Jeff references-in my view there was little depth to speak of. One man’s opinion, mine, and there is no sense of urgency to see this film nor recommend it.

I highly recommend  seeing     Enough Said –julia Louis dreyfus and james gandolfini and another little film,  Don Jon.   Fine scripts and superb acting in both these films.    Goodnight and enjoy.

Hello Movie lovers,

I wanted to pass along my recommendation to see GRAVITY, Sandra Bullock's new film that opened last weekend.

This is the newest work of director/writer Alfonso Cuarón, whose previous work includes Children of Men, Y Tu Mama Tambien, and one of the Harry Potter films.

While most of you are probably familiar with the plot line - Astronauts in peril, trying to get back to safety - the trailers do not prepare you for the depth of the story line nor the brilliance of it's execution. I have been a science fiction fan since I was little, and have long held 2001 as the benchmark to measure other films by. While Gravity does not achieve the long term view of humanity of that film, it is an amazing view of how precious life on Earth is, and how integral our reaching out to the stars is to our nature.

Beyond that, I strongly suggest you see it in 3D. So much more than a visual gimic as it is in most films (even Avatar), here it is integral to the plot, and the meaning of the story.

I don't do this for most big screen films, but this one is worth the publicity....

Enjoy,

Jeff
