Inside Llewyn Davis

The Coen Brothers‘ new film stars Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, John Goodman, Garrett Hedlund, Justin Timberlake, and more.

Inside Llewyn Davis follows a week in the life of a young folk singer as he navigates the Greenwich Village folk scene of 1961. Guitar in tow, huddled against the unforgiving New York winter, he is struggling to make it as a musician against seemingly insurmountable obstacles—some of them of his own making.

105 minutes. Rated R. Film start time approximate as the State hasn't posted times yet.

I saw it at the Rave and thought it was pretty good. It certainly captured the times though I rather liked Big Sur, which also had the woof and warp of the late fifties and early sixties, a bit better. Followed it all up with Saving Mr. Banks, a bit less dark.

Thanks for the first meet up to this group. To the two ladies below who missed out...nobody went out anywhere after the movie to discuss, so it was more or less just watching the movie.

Hopefully next time, there's more time for interaction among the meet up members. However, thanks to Scott for putting on the event.

Disappointed to have to cancel this evening but something has come up and I won't make it to Ann Arbor in time. Was so looking forward to this evening and meeting everyone. Hope to meet all of you next time!

The movie is playing all over town now. I am afraid my back cannot handle the seating at the State right now. Hopefully will catch the flick down the street. Hope to see some at Sundance.

Scott - here are the times that the movie is showing at the State for Sun. Jan. 12: 3:30, 6:15 & 8:30. Which showing did you have in mind? I can make the 6:15, not sure about the 8:30.

615 would be my preference also. Can't do the earlier...will be with the grandkids. Don't want to do the 830. DH gets up at 5 for work. He'll join us for the 615.

Just to let you know Sherene. The movies for this venue are $10 for general admission, $7.50 for Michigan Theater members (it costs $35 to join for first timers) and $8 for seniors, veterans and students. Matinees are $7 before 6 PM. These are the usual fees except for special events. The meet ups are always $1 to help pay for the web site and other fees connected with the meet up that Scott is responsible for. This fee is not connected with the actual price of a movie ticket which may vary depending on where we meet up. It is also not connected with any other amenities such as pre or post movie drinks and snacks. The dollar is paid directly to Scott or whoever is leading the meet up. The movie tickets are always something we get on our own. Occasionally there will be a special promotion and we can get a free ticket if we visit a special web site. But this is also something we take care of on our own.

Hi Scott - Are there any plans to get together as a group before or after the movie (ie, at a coffee shop or restaurant)? Looking forward to meeting other film fans.

We'll probably go to Sava's across the street.

Oh, and "senior" is 65 years or older for this venue but at Rave, another occasional meet up site, it is 60 and over I believe.

ok, thanks for the info. on the entry fee Scott. Will have to back out on it this time, it's a little too steep for me right now due to some high veterinarian bills for my dog and cat this month but hopefully next month I can go if another film comes up.

Does anyone know what the price of admission to the movie is?
Am I right that the $1.00 is just for the meetup dues and then there is still the price of admission to the theater too, right?
I am disabled and my funds are very limited so if someone could help me clarify this I would really appreciate it.
