Lincoln

Steven Spielberg directs two-time Academy Award® winner Daniel Day-Lewis in “Lincoln,” a revealing drama that focuses on the 16th President’s tumultuous final months in office. In a nation divided by war and the strong winds of change, Lincoln pursues a course of action designed to end the war, unite the country and abolish slavery. With the moral courage and fierce determination to succeed, his choices during this critical moment will change the fate of generations to come.

149 minutes. Rated PG-13. Film starts at 6:45.

NOTE:  Goodrich has posted film time at 6:45.  Let's meet at 6:30.

After the film we will walk across the parking lot to Bel-Mark Lanes for music, drinks, conversation and karaoke.

Well, I figured I missed something on Friday. I couldn't go because of a medical procedure. But I went Sunday night. This is the best movie I have seen since the King's Speech. I will go again if you all want to schedule something later as I see the movie was sold out when you tried. I am sure the Academy will definitely give a nod to more than one in this movie. Spielberg has done it again. DD Lewis . . . wow. Very authentic feel, including the dated language. Very good timing for release after the election. Lincoln was quite a politician it seems.

The movie was sold out when I got there! I didn't have the meetup app on my phone to see your notes. Sorry I missed everyone - and the movie! Went to Zingermann's for dinner tho!

While we didn't get to see the film because it was sold out, many got to eat together at Carlile, bowl and sing karaoke at Bel-Mark Lanes, so the evening was a success! Thanks to all who came out and rolled with it!

I got to the theatre at 6:009 pm and waited for you guys. Didn't see a one of you. Where do you usually meet? I would like to have discussed the movie with you all. The language was a bit crude; but even today we don't speak as cleanly as we should now. At least no F-bombing
. They didn't speak like marble statues then and we don't now.

The body parts was all too realistic . War was/is hell. Parts of the film may have been shot in Petersburg--I recognized the Civil War station in Petersburg from a recent photo.

This film is a must see, as was ARGO.

Just fantastic. I'm a serious 19th Century historian and Spielberg did an awesome job. Politics ain't pretty, but it's life. Yes sometimes you have to grease palms for a very good and nobloe cause. But not too often. Now Jim Ashley, who led the floor fight for the 13th Amendment eventually came to A2 when he built the Ann Arbor RR and Ashley st is named for him. He's a real hero.

Please clear something up for me. The $1 is just to cover meetup dues but does NOT cover the actual ticket purchase, correct? I want to be prepared hehe.

Ticket prices for the film are around $10. The one dollar is in addition to the ticket price and goes toward the dues to maintain this site through Meetup.com.

I hope everyone isn't receiving this message a second time but meetup.com isn't clear enough:

Although probably not as good as Lincoln, I have the lead role in a film just released. You can check it out by going to Amazon.com, enter Alex Kushner under search and the movie "Who Killed Aliyah" pops up. I play the boss. It is $3 to rent and $10 to buy.

Ales, congratulations for the movie and your role

thanks. The movie is not rated but an appropriate rating would be PG-13 or R.

I hope to attend, and will have a better idea on Friday of whether I'll be able to leave the Lansing area early enough to make it.
