Hard to specify favorites, but I find the films of Mira Nair and John Sayles to be particularly intriguing.
Again, hard to specify favorites, but here are a few that are particularly memorable for me: The Namesake (Mira Nair), The Secret of Roan Inish (John Sayles), Before Sunrise (Richard Linklater), and The Clay Bird (Tareque Masud).
Substance trumps style (although some Hollywood films are substantive also!).
Hello! I especially appreciate international films, and always look forward to seeing them in places as cool as Ann Arbor.
This is a wonderful group of congenial film aficionados!
