The outdoor movie season is starting, so here's one that combines a movie and live indie bands. The location is  in Griffith Park on the Autry Center's large lawn. BUY your $5.00 discounted tickets WHILE THEY LAST on goldstar

So it's sort of like the cemetery movies at Hollywood Forever, but lower cost and probably lower hassle.  Definitely easier parking.

We'll stake out a place on the grass. So come w/friends or come alone. You WILL be able to find us. I will have a balloon or light.  (I hate those events  with vague instructions where you wander around in the dark trying to find the group.) Bring picnic blanket, low chairs, food, drinks, lay back under the stars. It's L.A.. It's Summer. Almost.

RUSHMORE (1998) 89% on Rotten Tomatoes It's a Wes Anderson flick so its got that indie sensibility -- and stars Jason Schwartzman as an eccentric student at Rushmore Academy who falls in love with a teacher but an even quirkier Bill Murray also has the hots for her. Hilarity and uncomfortable moments ensue.

ENTRANCE: The Autry is located inside Griffith Park.

PARKING: FREE! Across the street at the LA Zoo Parking lot.

If you RSVP'd Yes, you should have received an email with the below INFO: I will be there at 5:30 pm when the doors open and will stake out a good spot. If any of you want to come early to help me, cool.

HOW TO FIND US: I will tie a balloon to my chair; look for it. When it gets dark, I'll have a small camping light glowing. Will try to post my location . If you’re still lost, post something here and I'll guide you in. Also, I might be wearing a BLACK HAT (I haven’t decided yet). This will be a picnic-type atmosphere. So bring your own food and drink. (Of course, there are food trucks, but I've been told the lines can get long.) And bring your own adult beverages, but be a little discrete. I've found a bottle of wine fits perfectly into my .75 L stainless steel water bottle. If you’ve been to the Hollywood Forever screenings, you know the rules: No regular high chairs. So bring your low beach-style chairs and/or a picnic blanket to sit on.

REMINDER: The Eat/See/Hear movie/movie event is this coming Saturday. I noticed one of the bands playing has been announced: "Thieves" is an L.A. based band -- you can check them out here:

Not bad. I understand there will be more than one band playing -- I think theyre going to surprise us.

More details to come about where to meet, how to find us, what to bring, etc.

It looks like the half price tickets ($5.00 instead of $10) are still available on Goldstar for the Rushmore outdoor screening:
