Emily Bonn and the Vivants - http://www.emilybonn.com/ -
Largely inspired by the energy of old-time dance tunes, honky-tonk country, and western swing, The Vivants play their own brand of American roots music, shining up dusty melodies with modern arrangements.
In former incarnations, Emily performed in San Francisco subway stations, Belgian prisons, Appalachian corner stores, and at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival. As a former member of the critically acclaimed country band, The Whoreshoes, she shared stages with the legendary rockabilly singer, Wanda Jackson, Old Crow Medicine Show and Devil Makes Three.
The Vivants include stellar performers, Jody Richardson on fiddle, foot percussion and vocal harmonies, James Touzel on upright bass, and Isaac Bonnell on piano accordion.
We are lucky to know more Vivants who have raised our musical game including: Anna Levitt (fiddle and vocals), Tom Lucas (fiddle, banjo, vocals), Janese Hurley(fiddle, vocals), Roxanne Oliva (accordion, vocals) and Greg Dunn (upright bass).
Denim Wedding - http://denimwedding.com/
Jennifer Faust and Brian Kunkel met at the now closed venue The Woods, in Portland,Oregon during the fall of 2009. Soon after, they began performing Jennifer’s solo material both locally and on tour, but the project quickly evolved into more of a collaboration and was renamed Denim Wedding. Though Brian and Jennifer often perform as a duo, the project also includes a revolving roster of bassists, percussionists, and other musicians. Their overall sound can be described as “lush Americana”- powerful lyrics, rich vocal harmonies, and melodies cradled in the effect-driven arms of some heady guitar maneuverings. The music has a warm, cinematic feel to it- comparisons can be found in bands such as Cat Power, Gillian Welch & Dave Rawlings, and Beach House.
