Let's Talk Movies and the MOTM: Top Hat (1935)

Love movies? Love to talk about movies? Every fourth Tuesday join other movie lovers at Cornerstone Coffee in south Broad Ripple for two hours of good conversation on our favorite subject.

The second hour is dedicated to an in-depth discussion of the movie of the month. New for 2013, it's the First Annual Indy Film Buffs 11 Movies You Must See Before You Die. Spanning eight decades of Hollywood history, these eleven classics in as many genres are cultural touchstones and enduring favorites. This is a series you won't want to miss!

TOP HAT tops the list of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers musicals of the 1930s. It's a delightful confection of romance, farce, and song and dance. Irving Berlin's songs for the movie include the standards "Top Hat, White Tie and Tails" and "Cheek to Cheek". The high style art direction and elegant costumes are filmed in gorgeous black and white, and there are great comedy turns by character actors Edward Everett Horton, Eric Blore, and Helen Broderick.

The IMA is showing TOP HAT in the Toby on Friday, February 15 at 7 as part of the Winter Nights series.

This event repeats every fourth Tuesday.
