Hey everyone, let's celebrate St. Patrick's day a little early by watching "Once" and "Seven Psychopaths" at Kim's. This will also be a pitch in so please note what you will be bringing, either when you RSVP or in the comments section. Irish dishes are encouraged, but not necessary. Also there MAY be a drawing and a prize for the folks who come dressed up in the spirit of the holiday.
"Once" (2007) is written and directed by John Carney and stars Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova. When a brokenhearted street musician (Hansard) clicks with a beautiful and feisty keyboardist (Irglova), the unlikely couple decide that they have nothing-and everything-to lose. Over the course of one electric week, the duo writes, performs and records an incredible cycle of songs every bit at spontaneous and soulful as their improbable romance.
"Seven Psychopaths" (2012) is from the Oscar nominated writer/director of "In Bruges", Martin McDonagh. The star-studded cast includes Colin Farrell, Sam Rockwell, Woody Harrielson, and Christopher Walken. Marty (Farrell) is a struggling writer who dreams of finishing his screenplay "Seven psychopaths". His best friend Billy (Rockwell) is an unemployed actor, and part time dog thief, who wants to help Marty by any means necessary. Hans (Walken) is Billy's partner in crime, and Charlie (Harrelson) is the psychotic gangster whose beloved dog Billy and Hans have just stolen. This film is violent and darkly comedic, and in my opinion features some of the bast acting of 2012.
