"The Marriage of Maria Braun" and "Querelle" at Alex's

Hey everyone, Alex will be showing two films directed by Rainer Werner Fessbinder in his awesome home theater!

First is "The Marrage of Maria Braun" (1979) starring Hanna Schygulla as a woman who refuses to accept the loss of her husband-a soldier in World War II-as a personal defeat.  She uses every tool at her disposal to reinvent herself following the Hitler years.

In "Querelle" (1982) the plot centers on the handsome Belgian sailor Georges Querelle who is also a thief and murderer. When his ship, the Vengeur, arrives in Brest, he visits the Feria, a bar and brothel for sailors run by the madame Lysiane, whose lover Robert is Querelle's brother. Querelle has a love/hate relationship with his brother and it's this triangle which drives the plot of the film.  This film stars Brad Davis.

Both films are rated R for sexual situations. Hope to see you there!

Had a nice time and I really enjoyed having the opportunity to discover a new film. Had not heard of the director before I saw the meetup listing and looked up the Wiki entry. I liked the home theater. Great set up. Alex obviously put a lot of work into it. Thank you having me, Alex and I'm sorry I left and missed Querelle. Have to try to find that on my own sometime.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
