"Inside Llewyn Davis" on New Year's Day

What better way to start the year than seeing a movie with friends? INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS is the new drama from the Coen brothers. Oscar Isaac stars as a folk singer in 1960s Greenwich Village. Carey Mulligan, Justin Timberlake, F. Murray Abraham, John Goodman, and Garrett Hedlund are also in the cast. The Coens' frequent collaborator T-Bone Burnett produced the soundtrack, which is heavy on covers of songs popular in the folk scene of the day. The movie has received rave reviews and earlier this year won the Grand Prix at Cannes.

Meetup time is 4:15 in the lobby. We'll see the 4:30 show and then go out for dinner. If you miss us before the movie, we'll reconvene in the hall outside the auditorium before going on to the restaurant.

My sister told me this was based on a real person who her husband either knew or knew of him. His name is Dave Van Ronk. He is listed in Wikipedia.

They talk about Van Ronk on that show about it on Showtime I mentioned below. I keep liking this movie more the more I hear about it. I will see it again. : )

Very good film though quite downbeat. Coen Brothers create interesting characters that viewers can enjoy watching even if they aren't very likeable and this story adds to the Ulysses journey aspect that they have visited before (O Brother Where Art Thou). All the acting was well done, the cinematography was very good and the music was given full force.

Another winner from the Coens. The picaresque adventure to a soundtrack of folk music (songs c. 1961) makes it an interesting companion piece to the lighter-hearted "O Brother Where Art Thou".

I liked this movie even more after hearing what you had to say about it. I might have to do a little research online and see it again... and for that matter maybe see 'O Brother Where Art Thou one more time too. Thanks.

This was a movie out of my comfort zone. It was enlightening. It was one that I would not have seen on my own.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
