Movie Discussion Meetup

Join us for the monthly movie discussion Meetup at Cornerstone Coffee. As always, the first hour of the Meetup is open to any and all movie-related topics, while the second hour is devoted to an in-depth discussion of the movie of the month. The movie of the month for February is Footlight Parade, a pre-Code Warner Brothers musical starring James Cagney and Joan Blondell. Cagney and Blondell are on fire, and they're backed up by a great lineup of Warners' character actors. I chose Footlight Parade for this month's movie because it's one of the best exemplars of Busby Berkeley's sexually charged, kaleidoscopic choreography, which was "quoted" in the Coen brothers' The Big Lebowski, the January movie of the month. Between the Berkeley numbers and the innuendo-filled dialogue, Footlight Parade is _very_ pre-Code. Trust me when I say there's nothing else quite like the "Shanghai Lil" finale!
