"Lucy" at AMC Castleton

Hey everyone, "Lucy" is the new film written and directed by Luc Besson. A woman (Scarlett Johansson), forced into becoming a drug mule, turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic.

The movie starts at 11:30AM so meet-up time is 11:15AM .   Our group will be gathered near the concession stand before the film.  If you don't see us before the film, we'll gather in the lobby for a few minutes before heading out to lunch to discuss the film.  We'll lunch at an inexpensive restaurant near the theater (Panera, Noodles and Co, or something like that.).   Tickets are $6.00 per person.  Hope to see you there!

I liked "Lucy", and am a fan of both Scarlett and Morgan. I enjoy many types of movies and am forgiving of the less than "perfect" plot!

Movie was good, but not as entertaining as I would normally enjoy.

It wasn't quite Matrix for a new generation, I'll give you that. But I found it enjoyable, and I feel that it set out what it meant to, which was bolt a slightly more engaging Reason for Violence than most summer action movies. It acknowledged its roots, and having just seen Under The Skin, I find I'm really enjoying Scarlett in the atypical creepy sort of roles. The ending, with Lucy and Lucy, and the Monkey-and-the-Monolith USB drive was subtle, but a fitting end. Could have done with a little less action though -- the car chase, for example, was simply gratuitous.

Dan seemed to enjoy it, but I have to agree with Jill, it was like the end was not there. I was left with and.....
something seemed to be missing. I like it, but didn't like it, but for the price I am still left with and.......

Engaging for the first fifteen minutes or so and then quickly lost interest.

The movie started off promising with cleverly edited sequences and an interesting enough premise, but despite good performances the story devolved and didn't satisfy in the end. Felt like they started filming before they had the script worked out and threw things together for the ending that were neither intellectually challenging enough or effective. When we got to the end "there was no there there". Discussion was my favorite part--always good to hear different perspectives and insights.

I was in the minority, but I really liked "Lucy".

I liked some things about the movie but unfortunately the plot devolved as Lucy evolved. Enjoyed the post-movie discussion as always.

There were certainly gaps in this story but if you overlooked them, it was interesting and entertaining and a little thought provoking.

It was enjoyable for $6, but just a bit to much thinking for me, I go to movies to be entertained & not have to think to much about what is going on out there. That was just a little to much cerebral for me.

Charlotte and I are running late. Probably won't make it in time for the movie. :( She got lost trying to find my house. Sorry!
