Friday nights in January and February, mark your calendars for the 2013 Winter Nights Film Series at the IMA. The series theme this year is the visual feast: "eight films known for their eye-popping art direction, sumptuous costumes or gorgeous cinematography."
The second movie in the series is a bold choice for the IMA. SIN CITY is Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller's adaptation of Miller's episodic graphic novel series. A hyper-violent neo-noir fever dream in haunting black and white, it's not for the fainthearted (THIS MOVIE IS RATED R FOR A REASON). The reward is one of the most visually striking films of recent years and a raft of charismatic performances. Clive Owen, Rosario Dawson, Brittany Murphy, Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Carla Gugino, and Rutger Hauer are just some of the big names in the cast.
The movie starts at 7 in the Toby theater. We'll meet for dinner at 6 in the museum's Nourish Cafe (off the main lobby next to the gift shop). If you can't make it before showtime, look for us in the Toby lobby after the movie as we gather for some good post-movie discussion.
