With New Years just past, we find ourselves thinking about what resolutions we are going to make this year. My goal is to volunteer more...which is my hope for why you have joined the Indianapolis Ambassadors Meetup group, and for that I thank you! I would like to take a moment to introduce you to the Indianapolis Ambassadors.
The Indianapolis Ambassadors is a group of civic minded individuals who share a goal of helping others and the community of Indianapolis through volunteerism. A few examples of the different volunteer opportunities include:
- Volunteer at charity fundraisers ranging from golf outings to black-tie dinners, where you might find yourself chatting with the Mayor or working an auction with local sports figures. - Serve as ushers at various theatrical performances, then stay and enjoy the show. - Serve as timekeepers and course marshals at charity runs/walks, or work the finish line at the Mini Marathon.
Current volunteer events are listed on our website (www.indyambassadors.org) under 'Volunteering'. We also hold monthly meetings (first Wednesday of the month) in various interesting locations throughout the city, featuring a short talk from a guest speaker as well as announcements for social and educational events.
We celebrated our 25th Anniversary last year and have over 250 members. For those of you who are not currently members, we invite you to join! You can do so by signing up at one of our monthly meetings or at a "second chance" meeting. To find out more, go to our website under 'Becoming a Member'. Membership is $50 for the first year ($45 for subsequent years).
Let me know if you have any questions about the club and I hope to see you at our General Meetings, socials and volunteer events!!!
The next General Meeting is next Wednesday (January 6th) at 6:30 pm at the Pike Township Library, with an after meeting social at Max & Erma's located at 71st and 465.
