Indy Anime Underground April Meetup

Downtown Borders. Fun, central, comfortable, and familiar. It also helps that a ton of anime and manga is sitting on the shelves. This is our time to be like Kids in a candy store. This is an important meeting. We will be discussing the logistics of our next meetup, the CherryBlossom festival in Fort Wayne. That is a huge cultural experience including classic manga, and contemporary Japanese American illustrators and even a smattering of local Japanese artists. There will be traditional Japanese music and Dance as well as a chance to sample traditional Japanese food. To say nothing of the beauty of the Cherry Blossoms themselves. I would urge everyone who can to attend!

Wonderful. Great conversations. Large enough group that we were able to have multiple streams of conversation. As a planning session it was also effective and we got deceptively large amounts of planning done in a relatively short time.

Anthony has just let me know that our spillover meetup for those wanting to stay after the meetup or who are worried about being late to the meetup will include Morty's downtown thanks to some free tickets from X-103. Its an 18 and over club with a concert going on that night. Anthony will have the details

My previous comment does not change anything about this Borders meetup, we'll still be meeting, and we'll still discuss the Cherry-Blossom Festival, transportation, etc... I'm sure it'll be lots of fun flipping through mountains of manga volumes too ^_^

So the plan was to hit Fort Wayne for the Sakura Festival on the 13th of April, since that's when I thought it was scheduled for. Turns out I was looking at the wrong year, the actual date is going to be May 31st starting at Noon, according to the JapinInFortWayne homepage, but there aren't any details other than the date that I can find. For now consider this a tentative meeup, I'll make a note of it on here but until I can gather more details I won't be posting the meetup itself.

Found out that the amount of traditional Japanese Cherry Blossoms is low but they are there. There are other cherry trees in bloom as well. There is a japanese cultural centre. A japanese pavilion. A Japanese friendship garden from Takoaka Japan and we will be listening to Taiko Drummers, Minyo Dancers, and more.

We both will after that drive! Thats part of why we are having a logistical meeting. I think that quite frankly this is one that is just too much to miss out on. We may also be getting some support for the meetup group in terms of long term partnerships and sponsors which I will elaborate as details become finalized.

So there WILL be ACTUAL cherry blossoms? If all I see is a picture, I think I shall be highly disappointed -.-
