Announcing a new Meetup for Indy Anime Underground!

What: Feast of Lanterns

When: August 23,[masked]:00 PM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Meetup Description: This is another one of the great cultural offerings in Indianapolis. This is a hundred year old festival started by the south east asian communities in Indianapolis, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Phillipino families in Indianapolis were parading in a Bon Odori festival as part of the Bon week. This was interupted by WWII and only unoficial family celebrations continued until the festival was revivified in 2004 when it was realized what a great cultural asset it had been.

The traditional paper lanterns cover the entire park and a candle lit procession realy sets the stage. There is music, traditional arts demonstrations, and food.

This is a unique treasure that commemorates the Bon Odori festival in Japan and one that has a long history of over a century here in Indianapolis.

This will be our third cultural festival of the year after the Asian festival and the Cherry Blossom festival (please RSVP for the Cherryblossom festival if you haven't already)
