The Peninsula Trail was easy to follow. Some of the steep grades were a challenge to me on the way back but I liked the challenge.

The Meetup was great! It was my first backpacking experience and Kyle was a great facilitator. I really enjoyed meeting new people and learning from their past experiences. Everyone was so helpful. I'm looking forward to more Meetups when I get more of my own gear together. Thank goodness Christmas is right around the corner.

Sorry I could not make it. The Storm we had Thursday took out 1/2 my roof, and I was in the process of fixing it. I will make it to the next meet up.

Hi, I am new to back packing and would love to do it. Do you have any advice for me on this?? Like what to bring and other things. I have been on a hiking trip recently and loved it. I would love to explore more wilderness!! Any advice would be nice!

I was only suggesting renting until you get your own stuff. Getting your own gear is definitely important.

I'm working today and will probably be stopping at Lennie's in Bloomington for dinner so you can expect me at the trailhead between 7 & 7:30 this evening. Guess I'll be the late arriver.

    Kyle,

I'm not going to be participating for this week's hike after all. Perhaps the next one. Thanks.

I'll be there Friday night at the trail head around 5 pm. How far will anyone be walking in for the first night. Looking forward to meet some new faces.

Honestly packing a backpack isn't that bad. The bottom is where the sleeping bag goes because you want the lighter stuff on the bottom. You want your heavier stuff right up against your upper back. Everything else is really about just finding any nook and cranny and utilizing that space. You'll find your own system to packing over time. And if you're going to REI, just ask them. They are very helpful and will take their time with you. The first day will be a very short distance and we could help you if your having trouble for night 2.

Thanks, Jeff and Kyle. I watched a few videos and did some reading. I think I should be ok.

Some things to know. There will be a water source at Saturday's camp, but not Friday's. Be ready for cold nights. Estimated low of 34. Friday will be a good time to test your setup and have extra insulation in the car close by. If anyone has any questions on cold weather camping, feel free to ask.

The map makes sense to me. Bill and I will meet everyone in the camp vicinity at 10am or before on Saturday morning.

Grub ridge just west of the fire tower. There are 3 ways to get to the point, I can only assume this is it. Its the fastest to the point ( 5.3 miles)

Jeff (posted directly below) and I are neighbors and will most likely be heading down together. I will keep my fingers crossed for good weather.

I would like to join you on this trip. I will be coming down Saturday morning. Where will the meet up be at 10am? At the Grubb Ridge trailhead?

Probably one of the first campsites along the trail.
