Freudenfest, Oldenburg

Freudenfest is held annually during the third weekend of July in Oldenburg, Indiana as a celebration of the German heritage in our region and to allow people to see the quality of people and spirit in this small midwest community. This festival originated in 1977 and has become one of the premier German festivals in the Cincinnati Tri-State area, drawing thousands of people into Oldenburg during the weekend event. Live German music, food, contests, shows, games, and the finest imported German beer on tap make this event a huge success ! --from

Great festival, good selection of beers. Problem getting group together because the meeting place was closed. Will make better arrangements next year.

This is a fun small town festival. My kids were a bit bored. Would have been nice to see more activities for the teens. I had a really good time though.

Sorry that the Brau Haus was closed. Hope you had a good time anyway. I had a good time and look forward to next year.

I'm up for carpooling. I live downtown and am available after 3pm. There's plenty of space around me to park if anyone would like to meet in my area.

Please be advised that the food, drinks, and games at the 'fest are cash only and that the closest ATM is in Batesville. Parking and admission are free.

Based on previous years, a half liter goes for $2.75 making it well worth the trip out there! :)

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
