The Black Keys w/Booker T. Jones and Nicole Atkins

I bet you like The Black Keys.  Even if you don't know you do.  Their music is ubiquitous these days.  It's in all sorts of commercials, movie trailers, and all over the radio.  And it's so, so good.  They've even got a batch of new Grammys to prove it objectively.  On top of that, they are amazing live.  Here is your chance to experience that.

Tickets for this show at The Lawn at White River State Park (apparently THE hot spot for concerts this year.  Suck it Verizon!) are $35 and go on sale in a special pre-sale this Thursday, Feb. 24th at 10am.  The password for the pre-sale is: SINISTER.  Then they go on sale to the general public at 10am the next day at the same price.  I would HIGHLY suggest that if you want to be certain to attend the show that you purchase through the pre-sale or as soon as possible because this will almost certainly sell out quickly.  Purchase tix here: http://www.livenation.com/event/05004652D502B90D

Another great show from the Keys. I expected no less. It was so good that I was hardly able to bring myself to be upset when I found afterwards that my bike had been stolen from the place where I locked it outside of the state museum. It was also a very nice experience hanging out at the JW before the show. I'm sure the good company played a large part in that. We had a very good turn out for this meetup and I hope that anyone else from the group who attended had a good time as well. Special thanks goes out to Marisol who provided me with a ride home since I would have been stranded otherwise. We tried to eat at the new Revolucion restaurant in Fountain Square after the show, but they had already closed the kitchen at 11. It looks like a really cool place, though.

They sounded GREAT and the rain held off!! I can see that The Lawn is going to quickly become one of my favorite outdoor venues.

Heading to La Revolucion (across from Radio Radio) for a bite if anyone wants to join.

It might be pushing it to get to the JW by 7 for me, but that is the goal, try to wait for me if possible.

I have an extra ticket to the show, if anyone is still looking send me a text:[masked]-3322. I will be there on my own but looking forward to meeting up with the group for something this summer. Fingers crossed for NO RAIN!

I'm not sure where I'll lock up my bike, Anne. I'm sure I've seen bike stands downtown before, but it never registered with me because I've only started riding again recently. I would imagine there are many spots around the White River park area. I think the sports bar at the JW Mariott is the best place to meet prior to the show. I'll be there around 6 if everything goes to plan. To contact me to meet once you arrive, my number is[masked]-1311. Oh, I'm bad with names, so you know.

Meeting at the Marriot sound great to me!

Wow, parking really blows. May I suggest trying the Circle Centre mall garages and walking a few blocks over. It's like $1.50 for 3 hrs. Or find a meter somewhere. I will be arriving late, so I will just see you all at the grassy knoll.

I live downtown and will be riding my bike over too. Jason, where are you going to lock up your bike? I can meet you guys anywhere. Very curious about checking out the inside of the JW Mariott so that sounds like a winner to me.

    June 9, 2011

  • Marisol R.

Sure, I can meet there as soon as I find parking.

Wherever we meet, it'll be good to start gathering around 6pm to give time for everyone to find parking since that is going to be severely limited due to the crowd and the activities going on at the Zoo. Then when it gets close to 7pm we'd head over to the gates together.

I'll be riding my bicycle downtown. We still haven't set up a meeting point. I've heard that there is a nice bar in the new JW Mariott, which would be right next to the main entrance if they set things up like they have for past concerts. Any thoughts on that, cohorts?

Anyone care to carpool to the show since I just got an email informing me that parking for the event is $10!

Actually, I put them on CL and it looks like they're sold already. Apparently the Black Keys are popular... who knew?! Sorry to those looking for tix.

    Hey All,
I just scored (free) Zoobilation tickets from a friend, so sadly I will not be there. Have blast - seen TBK 4 times and always a straightforward good rock show, Stephen

This show is sold out! Now we just have to hope the weather is on our side and this will be an awesome event! Do we have any suggestions for a meetup point prior to the show? Is anyone interested in that?

    Hey Jesse,
Is your extra ticket still available? I may need it.
    Thanks, Stephen

I have an extra- ticket for this show. Anyone that is planning on going and hasn't purchased a ticket yet, let me know. I'll take the hit on the processing fees so you can get a bit of a deal on a ticket.

Thanks so much, Jason! Let me know exactly how much I owe you. If you're willing to wait a few days, I can get your ticket for Arcade Fire. I'm planning on getting mine Saturday morning at the Murat box office to avoid LiveNation/Ticketmaster fees.

I'm up for a pre-show thing. There are plenty of places around the canal and parks. There's that new bar/restaurant along South Street near Lucas Oil and the place in the new JW Marriot. A picnic could work too. Let's hear some other ideas. We've got plenty of time to plan.

Just bought my tickets. Been wanting to see these guys for a while now. They played a killer set on SNL not too long ago. We definitely need a pre-show meetup for this one.

I've purchased our tickets Michelle. We're all set for the show.

BOOO for "convenience" fees. Sure isn't convenient for me. Buy YAY for the Black Keys coming to town. I saw them last summer outdoors in sweltering 90ish degree temps and can't wait to see them again when the weather is more pleasant. This announcement turned a crappy day yesterday into rainbows and sunshine in my world.

    February 22, 2011

  • Jason W.

    Probably so.

  • Michelle

THANK YOU!! I'm thinking the MOKB password would still work for the pre-sale even if you don't have a Citi card, wouldn't it?

    February 22, 2011

  • Jason W.

Expect to pay an extra $12.35 in "convenience" fees and probably another $4.00 or so in "processing" fees to our evil livenation overlords, so we're probably looking at $51 per ticket when it's all said and done.

    February 22, 2011

  • Jason W.

I'll get your ticket when I purchase mine, Michelle. The pre-sale on livenation starts Thursday morning at 10am and is open to orders made with Citi credit cards or to people who download some livenation mobile app. You can get more details at the livenation page for this show.

So I'm going to be on a plane Thursday morning and won't be back in town until Tuesday. Can someone please, please, please get my ticket? (JASON???) I'll pay you back ASAP!

Here's double hoping this is true. I saw them at Verizon last fall, in Chicago on New Year's Eve and I still can't get enough. They're so great live. A band that truly lives up to my expectations and then exceeds them. It's odd that tickets for this are set to go on sale this soon, but I still haven't seen anything about the Arcade Fire show tickets yet.

    February 22, 2011

  • Michelle

Oh lordy, I hope it's true! They're going to be at Bonnaroo the 11th. It's possible...
