White Denim

White Denim is a band overflowing with energy and musical ideas that they jam into each and every one of their songs.  To pin them down to a particular genre is a difficult task.  Influences of  dub, psychedelic rock, blues, punk rock, progressive rock, soul, jazz and experimental rock can be found throughout their work, and sometimes within a single track.  Rest assured, though, that this abundance of ideas does not come at the expense of strong songcraft or coherence.  It all fits together to good effect.  Jammy, but not to the point of meandering self-indulgence.  Experimental, but not to the point of confusing dissonance.  They're simply a lot of fun and accomplished, adventurous musicians.

Maps & Atlases and Tiny Victories are the opening bands on the bill.

Since this show is at The Bluebird in Bloomington and I live on the south side of Indy in the Greenwood area, I would like to leave from around Greenwood by 7pm.  Anyone who is interested in joining me to ride down together to save on gas is welcome to do so.  Text or call me on my mobile at[masked]-1311.

Tickets are $10.  It doesn't look like its expected to be a sell out crowd, but if you would like to purchase them in advance online, you can do so here:  http://ticketf.ly/QvLzQG

White Denim are such a tight, adventurous band that their remarkable musicianship truly has to be witnessed live to be fully appreciated. Unfortunately, the show was poorly promoted, based on the poor attendance, and it was badly organized by the Bonnaroo people, for some reason even including a lackluster stand up comic to start the night. That only served to make the show go later than necessary. Fortunately, though, Maps & Atlases and White Denim were both so good that the drawbacks could not diminish the night.

Jennifer, I'm glad you enjoyed the show and had a good time. I'm also pleased that you checked out White Denim and found you liked them too. Pitchfork.com is the website I mentioned that has the music news and reviews.

Just started with Spotify and listening to White Denim's Street Joy. Really like them. Jason, you mentioned a resource you use for music reviews. What was the website again?

Thanks again for organizing the Kishi Bashi concert. I really enjoyed meeting everyone and the musicians were excellent.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
