True Dungeon Wants You!

True Dungeon 2013 will be hosted at the Gen Con Indy in Indianapolis, IN Thursday-Sunday, August 15-18, 2013. Gen Con Indy is the world's oldest and largest game convention, and True Dungeon is its premier event.

True Dungeon is looking for volunteers who are local to Indy for volunteer shifts Mon-Wed and teardown on Sunday afternoon of Gen Con. The position would receive the usual benefits of a 4-day GenCon pass, a t-shirt, and now also a $$ reward to be paid after the final shift on Sunday.

I'm hosting a reception event here at Browningham where you can meet with the Volunteer organizers to learn more about the opportunity.  Also, you can look for their booth at Who's Yer Con this year to buy some tokens and ask questions.  Tell em you're from the meetup!

It was a great blend of True Dungeon talk and general socializing. I really enjoyed meeting the new people and seeing familiar faces as well. :)

I am starting a new job and orientation is tomorrow until 5pm. Is there a way to still volunteer and get the information needed to do so? Thanks :)

    April 5, 2013

    • Stuart O.

Hi Jen. I know that when the information was originally posted, the thought was for all shifts, full-time. However, we've been asked this several times are are reviewing the option of having both a part-time and full-time option. The one caveat will be we will require SUNDAY teardown as one of the shifts. While we have 3 days to set up... we only have 1 day to tear down and will need all hands on deck! I hope to have a final ruling by tomorrow.

I'm interested in volunteering. Though having never been through, I DM D&D and pick up new games quickly

    March 31, 2013

    • Heather

Cool! Come on out next Saturday and we can talk about what would be a good fit for you! :)

      March 31, 2013

  • John H.

What exactly would you do as a volunteer and are there any requirements needed? I don't have any construction experience and never have been through TD, but sounds fun.

    March 31, 2013

    • Heather

You need to be 18 or older and able to commit to the hours you are scheduled.. since Jeff is focusing on an Indianapolis based build crew that can be any time Monday-Wednesday and then some Sunday of Gen Con. No experience with anything in particular necessary.. it takes lots of people with lots of skill sets to build the dungeon!

Sorry guys, I work a table at the Art Show all weekend so I've no time to volunteer. :/

    March 31, 2013

  • Jim S.

tentative yes for now, but I'll have to wait till it get's closer to make sure. Should we still reserve our pass now?

    February 14, 2013

    • Stuart O.

How tentative? I'm confirming TD's policy this year with reimbursing those who volunteer and already have a badge. Stay tuned!

      February 15, 2013

    • Stuart O.

See above. Feel free to purchase your GenCon pass now. If you decided to volunteer we can arrange a reimbursement for the badge.

Damn, and i just bought my pass today. I'd totally be down with this otherwise. Is there anyway for us who already have passes to work this instead?

    February 14, 2013

    • Stuart O.

      I have news!

      February 25, 2013

    • Stuart O.

      (1) If you become a volunteer and have already purchased a GC badge you will receive a refund on the credit card that made the badge purchase sometime in May.

      (2) To register for other events at GC, True Dungeon will send you a Badge Code to register free online for a badge BEFORE events reg starts. You will then be able to register for other games.

Hello all, I have never been involved with TD, but I have spoken to Ian Ferguson about it while at the Game Preserve in Greenwood. He sings the praises of True Dungeon from on high, and speaks well of his experiences working with the build crew and playing. I have set building and set striking experience from Highschool, and would love to be involved

Taking nearly the whole week of so this would be great!

    February 15, 2013

    • Stuart O.

It is a blast. Lots of work... but a blast. There are a variety of volunteer jobs and levels of commitment. A big focus this year is on establishing a strong build and tear down crew(s). Best part for these crews is they are free during the convention itself!!

      February 15, 2013

    • Dave

I've never done TD, mostly due to cost, but always heard amazing things about it. Being able to help out in some manner would ge great fun, I'm sure.

      February 15, 2013

  • Stuart O.

I look foward to chatting with you all about the volutneer opportunities with TD! Please post any advance questions here and I'll try to answer them, or find out by the time we meet! Cheers!
