November Hack Day!

Hey guys!

Let's mix things up. We've been doing the presentations thing for awhile. I say we take a break and just hack on some stuff. So, I propose we change the November meeting to be the First Annual Indy.js Hack Day!

Miles talked DeveloperTown into letting us use their space. ExactTarget will get us pizza, and we've got a few dollars from our new sponsor serve, which we can use get a keg or 2.

Saturdays seem better than Wednesdays. We're thinking 10am to 10pm, come and go as you please. Here's the question. When would you guys prefer?

November 19th which overlaps with Startup Weekend.
November 26th which is the weekend after Thanksgiving.

I vote Nov 19th. I will be unavailable on the 26th.

Yeah, it sucks to overlap startup weekend, but there's a lot of family stuff happening around thanksgiving and I'm pretty sure I'll be out of town.

I would vote for the 19th, also. I don't have any real justification, though.

Either of those dates work for me. If we do it after Thanksgiving we could have a leftover potluck. What are we gonna hack?

19th it is.

Spencer, thats up for debate. We can make something specific as a group, or just work on disparate projects. If we go with one big group project, what should we build? Ideally, it would:

- be node driven
- have a non-trivial UI
- swim in the awesomeness pool

I like smaller groups rather than one big group project, depending on the number of people attending. Otherwise I think we'll have too many conflicts of who is working on what part, etc. My vote would be one central theme given to multiple even-sized groups, so hopefully every group could get a good mix of developers/designers.

Also isn't November 19th a Monday?

Neil, note that you're replying to a thread that is approximately 1 year old. I don't think a hack day is still the plan for November 2012.

Quite so.
