IndyPy Monthly Meetup

This month Pradeep Gowda will be talking about iPython, the Python REPL now with turboboost.

The Python REPL is a familiar place. For such a frequently visited place, it is kind of meh. iPython is an upgrade over the default REPL in every aspect. The iPython CLI is an immediate upgrade. But, it is the web based interface that really ups the ante on what a interactive session should be able achieve.

The iPython “notebook” mode is so popular that even other languages (F#, Julia, Haskell) etc., have compatibility modes. The notebook format is especially popular among people doing data analysis using python tools like numpy and matplotlib.

We will see a hands on session on how to upgrade the python programming experience using iPython in it’s both CLI and web forms.

Hope to see you for beers and Python!

We may have some more Python books to give out from our sponsors O'Reilly and Pearson.

Dissappointed I couldn't be there, but looking forward to coming next month. I'm trying to put together a group of people to come up from Louisville. Are there any other Louisville attenders who might want to car pool?

Also, my company is looking to hire a developer with python background. If you or anyone you know is interested, please take a look:

We would consider a remote situation for someone in the Indianapolis area.

Good mix of people, skills, and background. Friendly folks and good conversation.

I had a lot of fun and learned some new stuff. I really enjoyed the ipython presentation as well as the conversation afterwards. This was my first user group meet up and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and acumen of all my fellow python enthusiast.
