Hi, Indy folks!
If you've read about the Python Workshops for Women that have been
going on in places like Boston and San Francisco - well, Indianapolis
is going to join in! There's going to be a Python Workshop for Women
as part of Indiana LinuxFest (April 13-15). We hope this will help
quite a few indianans become Pythonistas - and that you'll end up
seeing some of them as IndyPy members.
Mel Chua and I are organizing and teaching, but neither Mel nor I is
actually in Indianapolis - it's about halfway between us - so we could
really use some advice from locals. Two needs come to mind right now,
but I'm likely to ask for more help later.
- Suggestions for companies that might want to sponsor the workshop
- Bonus points for personal contacts within those companies
- Help spreading the word (Don't start yet until everything is
absolutely official and we have a page we can point people to, but
We're going to follow the standard PWFW policy w/r/t regard to male
students, namely: men can attend... as the guest of a woman attendee.
Yes, this press-gangs motivated male would-be students into doing
recruiting for the workshop. That's a feature!
Thanks in advance for your help!
