Hack Night

Come join us for hack night!

Bring your laptop and a project to work on, or help someone else with their project, and enjoy good Ruby conversation.

This month, at MOBI:

Food: Freshly-grilled burgers (with vegetarian option) at our own "Burger Bar". Sides & a variety of carbonated beverages provided, too. Food starts at 7pm.

Facilities: Plenty of flexible space, indoors and out (weather permitting) to sit-down, stand-up, or work-however-you-like to hack on your Ruby projects. We’ll have one conference room open w/ a projector for impromptu code inspections. Another conference room open for project presentations, discussions, & feedback.

We also encourage attendees to use the #MobiHackNight hashtag on Twitter to locate & connect with other hack night peeps to get help, answer questions, and/or pair up on a new project!

See you there!

Fun meetup last night! So I had an idea that we could possibly try next time: a dedicated room or area for app/startup idea pitches with a 5 minute limit on them. These could be serious or crazy, off the top of your head ideas. If anyone remembers, they used to do something like this at the old hackers and founders meetup in a more formal way and you had to apply to be someone pitching for the night. This would be basically whoever wanted to go up and pitch an idea/demo or something and take questions or feedback from the audience afterward.

I like that idea and I'll try to make it happen next time. There's a lot of good stuff that comes out of Seattle.rb (https://github.com/sea...) and I really like the idea of some group projects.

Sponser OurHealth says 'beers!' for the group but for this event it just looks like soda only? No beer? *sniff* *sniff*

No beer? What were those 5 cases I just put on ice filled with?? :)

Hopefully you eventually found the beers! I perhaps need to reword our sponsor list to include hack night sponsors, which differ from regular monthly meeting sponsors.

You will want to enter the building at the doors beneath the MOBI sign which is on the far east side of the building.

Happy to see the severe weather clearing and hope everyone's safe out there. There's no damage near the MOBI office so we'll still be grilling during the hack night. The roads should be clear by 7 so we hope to see you all.

Sorry I won't be able to make it -- I may (or may not! but definitely yes...) have been in a longboarding accident over the weekend that ended with me in the ER on saturday afternoon...As much as I would love to come out and see everyone, I think another night at home would do me good. I'd love to see what people are working on though -- hit me up on twitter @jacob_smith or github.com/jacob_smith (:

Is this new location bike-friendly at all if coming from the direction of Broad Ripple?

    June 19, 2014

    • James P.

Yah, unless there's been more development in the past year or so, this is a very bike-unfrieldy part of town

Amy, I can give you a ride, if you'd like.

I talked with one of our guys who has ridden to work from his house in Broad Ripple semi-regularly and it's not recommended. Possible but the 12 mile, traffic packed trip is only for the most experienced cyclists.
