Great Meeting!

Thanks to everyone who attended tonight! It was nice meeting Jeff, Ganesh (spelling?), Ryan, and Chris. It was also good to see Jason and Marty again. If you missed it, you missed a most entertaining evening in Terminal and TextMate showing off the coolness (or hotness if that's your style) that is Rails. We all also got to meet our unofficial mascot, my dog!

We made a Web 2.0 name generator that removed the vowels and added an 'r' to a name and stored it in the database so we could rate it and add comments to it. It's not an application we'd want to show our mothers, but it is a solid start to the next king of the Web 2.0 mountain. We even made a unit test for it, being the good programmers that we all are.

Ryan showed off his company's cool application that uses RFID tags to track hospital gurneys and old people, showing the staff where everything is using a combination of Rails and Adobe Flex. It was very cool, and it even had Web 3.0 spinning gradients. Its the next big thing after 2.0 see, in Web 3.0 the gradients will spin. Using Flex instead of Ajax.

Oh yeah, and everyone got free pizza and coke!

The next meeting will be about Rails too, and I'll actually find a permanent "projector" home for our meetings. If anyone wants to donate a conference room for our use, please e-mail me. I would, but I work from home, and I bet you all don't want to drive all the way to Noblesville for a meeting.

Hope to see you all next month!
