Re: [ruby-89] Zed Shaw leaving the Rails community

I feel pretty bad for the guy that he feels he needs to get all this out in such a harsh way, all he's posted seems legit, but not really that bad (from my perspective). It looks like he's just had bad experience after bad experience, and his personality has caused a lot of problems with people and businesses he's come into contact with.

His trash talking about Thoughtworks is probably more on the mark than the rest of his rant, but blown out of proportion. I'm sure on the other side of the argument are some devs who are working hard to get solutions in customer's hands, perhaps with too little training for the price they are paid, but real training requires practical experience in any field, and Thoughtworks is a business, not a charity and will do what they can to minimize cost and maximize profit.

He's probably right on all or most accounts, but needs to get a tougher skin when dealing with certain people, and and more love and money from the community.

I hope Zed does well in whatever his pursuits are, I just get the feeling that his rant will make him further un-contractable to many companies, and eventually the same types of things will happen in the python and lisp communities.

History has shown that people of great talent are often difficult to deal with.

Yeah, he actually wrote some pretty damned reliable code too.

Mongrel was updated to version 1.1 by the new people managing that
project, and since that update they've have had to release 3 security
updates in 3 weeks.
