Re: [ruby-89] Ruby Group Meeting Place

I live on the northside and stopped attending when it moved downtown in combination with it moving from 6 to 7.  If we're going to be switching it up any location is fine, but I would prefer an earlier time, like 6.

The Rathskeller is a very good idea.

I live on the far far west side.  I could make it to nFrame for a stop gap, but I would prefer it not be permanent.  Has anyone checked the Rathskeller?  They have beer and some areas are quiet.

Ladies and Gentlemen -

According to meetup.com, we are focusing on finding a place that serves food and beer.  Well, I don't have a solution for that.  However, I may have a solution for a place that has a projection screen, a whiteboard immediately to its right, and food and drink could at least be consumed.  Unfortunately, there isn't a cook or wait staff.

To be more specific, nFrame has a room on the 2nd floor of the 550 Congressional Boulevard building (in Carmel) that will comfortably seat 12-16 people with laptops (at tables, with office chairs).  We could probably squeeze 20, and maybe even a few more, but it would be less than comfortable.  There's a mini-fridge and a couple coffee makers, as well.  I haven't discussed this with the man who would make the ultimate decision, and there are a few details that need to be addressed, but I would expect to get it worked out before next month without too extreme an effort.

If that room is not suitable, there is also a conference room on the first floor that has a large table that would seat 12, but the room is larger and could probably fit more people overall.  It does have a projection screen, I believe.  I couldn't get in to get a good look at the room, as there was a meeting in there when I went to check it out.  It is near a room that has snack machines (although, those machines would be available to us regardless of which room we choose).

The first question on my mind is:  how many of you would pass on a meeting in Carmel, versus downtown or Broad Ripple?  I wouldn't want us to leave anyone out.

The last couple meetings haven't been too large.  However, I've only been to the last two -- I have no sense of the history of the group.  Are either of these two rooms going to be too small?  At best I see them as a stop-gap until we can find a more permanent solution, in any case, but, again, I wouldn't want to immediately leave anyone out, or make the meetings so uncomfortable as to discourage future attendance.

What do you think?  Would it be better to search for a different solution all together?  Does one room sound more suitable than the other?
