Ladies and Gentlemen -
There's this contest, Apps for America (http://sunlightlabs.com/appsforamerica/), that is giving out prizes for writing some sort of application meeting these criteria:
Usefulness to constituents for watching over and communicating with their members of Congress
Potential impact of ethical standards on Congress
Originality of the application
Potential usability of the application
Code quality of application
(They also want you to use one of the APIs listed, but that isn't required. Check out the link for more information.)
Submissions are due on March 31st. I thought it might be fun for us to get together and put a project or two together to submit. As for a date, Sunday, February 22nd, or Sunday, March 1st seem ideal to me. (Sufficiently spaced between our regular meetings, and non-business days which might allow for a longer amount of time that some of us can dedicate.)
I want to know what you all think. Is it a good idea? Do you prefer any specific day or time? Would meeting at a Panera (or some similar place) work? Did any great ideas (that you're willing to share) strike you, and FOR AMERICA'S SAKE WILL PLEASE SHARE THEM?!
Please reply to this list with any related thoughts you have. Thanks!
