What We Watched:

  • Katrina Owen’s exercism.io - Coding problems, with peer review, refactoring encouraged
  • Gary Bernhardt’s “WAT” video - It’s like 4 minutes long, and hilarious.
  • Sandi Metz “SOLID Object-oriented Design” video - Old, by ‘net standards, this is the first video of Sandi’s I watched. It might not be her best, but I thought it was really good. She has since written a book called Practical Object-Oriented Design in Ruby, and given several other talks.
  • RubyRogues - A Ruby podcast. Often “advanced” material. Usually around an hour long. (Throw it on in the car, listen to it over the course of 4 days, like I do.)
  • CodeClimate - Code analysis tool. It can tell you what parts of your code are bad and should be refactored.
  • IndyHackers.org on CodeClimate - THAT IS RIGHT! A! Seriously, though, an A doesn’t necessarily mean your code is perfect. The IndyHackers.org code is far from perfect. I just did enough to get CodeClimate to give me an ‘A’ because I was trained to be a slave to letter grades.

What have I forgotten?
